Abstract

After a short business meeting, we will hear from Distinguished Invited Lecturer Walter Feinberg, who will speak on "Teaching Religion in the Public Schools."

The lecture will explore the role that religion, as a humanistic study, might play in advancing the distinctive role of public education to reproduce a public, and will address some of the obstacles to achieving that goal. It will also offer a friendly amendment to Dewey's concerns about religion in the public school.
