Abstract

This session addresses innovative approaches to persistent issues in the preparation of preservice teachers to work with diverse students. The particular focus is on ways to deal with resistance to discussions related to race and how white preservice teachers can learn to work with historically underserved students, as well as ways for teachers to engage diverse students’ cultural knowledge in science.
