Teacher Discourse on Issues of Race and Ethnicity in Rural and Urban Programs

Abstract
In this session the researchers compare and contrast specific issues in the preparation of teachers in rural and urban programs in relation to developing cultural competence. Teacher perspectives and beliefs and the effects of their beliefs on inclusion processes for minority students are highlighted. Difficult questions raised by teachers around race and culture are included.
