Bridging the Gap: Intermediary Roles Brokering Research Use in Education

Mon, April 16, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: Second Level, East Room 2&3

Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session

Abstract

Much of the empirical work that exists on research use in education focuses on research producing contexts and research using contexts with very few studies addressing the intermediary organizations and state level agencies that often facilitate research use processes. Studying intermediary organizations is important due to: 1) their rising number; 2) the significant roles they play interpreting, packaging and disseminating research for policymakers and practitioners; and 3) the underexplored role of these organizations and state level agencies, despite the growing recognition of their importance to research use processes. This session contributes to this dearth in the literature.
