Sat, April 14, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: First Level, West Room 121&122

Session Submission Type: Invited Session

Abstract

Since 1970 Non Satis Scire has been the motto of Hampshire College; the youngest member of the Five College Consortium with Amherst, Mount Holyoke, and Smith colleges and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Hampshire gives no grades and has no pre-determined majors; academic progression is inquiry/project-based and focused on learning how to learn; making a difference is a core value.

Members of the Five College and Hampshire communities discuss the history and impact of the Non Satis Scire motto and share how Hampshire’s curricular, pedagogical and institutional innovations might a) inform Pre-K - 20 education in the 21st Century and b) help education researchers better impact educational practice.
