This session has three main objectives: (i) to describe the origins, purposes, and lessons of two exemplary initiatives, in New York and Washington; (ii) to explore the strengths and weaknesses of alternative research and evaluation designs; and (iii) to engage with a broad AERA community on elements of programs designed to evaluate and inform urban school reform.
