Changing Policies and Practices in Education Around the World: What Can We Learn?

Abstract

The papers written for this symposium will add to our knowledge about implementation research; the connections between research, policy and practice; and the process of change in different cultural contexts. Each of these countries has changed significant policies in education based on research evidence and increasing globalization concerns. All of these areas are of critical importance if we are ever able to learn, how, and in what ways, we can improve (and change) education both in the academy and in schools. The press for globalization and 21st century skills are upon us. A number of international countries are making significant changes by using research evidence and global concerns to change policies and practices. All have also been challenged by these changes. It is imperative that we learn from these examples as reform in education is of international importance to all countries of the world.
