Perpetuating Inequities: Cross-National Circumstances

Abstract

The symposium pursues a cross-national discussion (New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the United States) of the complexity and plight of equity pursuits with a focus on diversity. The symposium examines growing inequities and the wicked nature of the problem—especially our stalled and faltering policies and complicit practices within and across the four countries. A forensic study of these education systems offers more than just a glimpse of outcomes of systems and attempts to explain the social, cultural and economic systems that may be reproducing or increasing historic privilege.
