AERA Task Force on the Prevention of Bullying in Schools, Colleges, and Universities: An Open Discussion Forum

Abstract

At the February AERA Council meeting the Council approved a Task Force on the Prevention of Bullying in Schools, Colleges, and Universities. The Task Force will be chaired by Professor Dorothy Espelage of the University of Illinois. The Task Force members may be found on the AERA web page along with the charge to the group. The focus of the Task Force is to call upon the extant research literature on bullying in educational organizations in order to recommend strategies to lessen bullying. This session will be an informal meeting for all members of the association to provide input on the topic and to aid the Task Force in its deliberations. The intent of the Council is for the Task Force to present a draft of their report to the Executive Board in October, and for the Council to discuss the issues at their February, 2013 meeting.
