Examining the Impact of an Antibullying Program on Young Adolescent Student Attitudes

Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of a group intervention program, called "Project Future," on adolescent students' attitudes towards bullying in school. The present study used a quasi-experimental design to examine what impact a specific community-based intervention, conducted in a group format, had on adolescents' attitudes towards bullying and bullies. Initial results from pre- to post-assessment showed significant change in students who participated in the program, with little to no change in the comparison sample who had not participated. Curricular components offer opportunities for school-community connections which may critically impact bullying in schools.
