Forming, Framing, and Linking in Developing Self-Study of Teacher Education Practices (S-STEP) Research Questions

Abstract

The S-STEP Research community faces three challenges to their viability as a methodology: development of questions significant to the larger research on teaching and teacher education community, use of existing research to frame their questions, and connection of other S-STEP research to inform the studies conducted. This paper examines these challenges revealing the links between and among them. Then based on exemplar research inquiries, the paper proposes and demonstrates practical analytic tools that can be used by S-STEP researchers in their research practice.
