Measurement of Teachers’ Professional Performance

Abstract

The objective of this research is to measure teachers’ professional performance on a linear scale. These measurements, based on Rasch model, are necessary to monitor progress of teachers and identify challenges in the educational system of the Russian Federation. Latent trait “teachers’ professional performance” is operationally defined by a set of indicators where each indicator characterizes one aspect. The research provides important insights into latent variables because it reveals how well a theoretical construct “teachers’ professional performance” conforms to an objective measurement model. Besides, it provides practical information about the performance of teachers, as well as the educational process.
