This study reviews faculty perspectives on the impact of national accreditation on a teacher education program in the western U.S. Current debates surrounding quality teacher preparation preface findings from a self-study that included: an examination of faculty perceptions on the process of accreditation; analyses of the impact of accreditation on the daily work of program faculty; and strengths and limitations of engaging in accreditation. Survey data illustrate specifically the influence of accreditation on planning, instruction, curriculum development, assessment, self-reflection, and collaboration. The implications for teacher preparation are considered.
