Abstract

In higher education, many new administrators lack the leadership capacity necessary to transition into their leadership roles. Without intervention, untrained leaders may lack the skills necessary to cultivate human capital of leadership which ultimately impacts both workforce productivity and capacity building (Drew, 2010). Despite the widespread implementation of leadership development programs, research indicates that organizations have traditionally spent little time evaluating the effectiveness of their programs (Sogunro, 1997).
The California State University (CSU) is the largest state college system in the country with twenty-three campuses located throughout the state. Among the CSU campuses, eight offer site-based leadership development programs. This study focused on graduates from the eight CSU campuses with leadership development programs.
