Predictors for Parental Satisfaction With Buddhist Preschools in South Korea

Abstract

The author surveyed 607 parents whose children attended Buddhist preschools in South Korea. Looking into how satisfied parents are with Buddhist preschools and the relationships of parental religious affiliation, and education level, and schools’ age, regression analysis was conducted. Results indicated that parents are generally satisfied with Buddhist preschools. When both parents were non-Buddhists, they showed less satisfaction with the preschools than the case where both parents were Buddhists or atheists. Parents with lower educational attainment showed less satisfaction. Finally, parents in the preschools operating more than 10 years are less satisfied. This study is significant because it informs about desire parents have from Buddhist preschools. This information can be used to improve the quality of Buddhist preschools.
