The purpose of this cross-country comparative study is to explore standards and expectations for school principals and the role of educational leadership observing global contexts of attraction for policy borrowing. Three sites—Ontario, Canada; Texas, USA; and Sweden are included to explore, “To what extent policy borrowing philosophies and ideologies influence standards and expectations for principals?” Considering that information is shared at a fast pace in what scholars once defined as a global village of instantaneous media sharing, these countries seemed to focus standards and expectations for principals especially through: policy borrowing as influencing accountability and academic achievement areas; community issues as encompassing socioeconomic, sociocultural issues related to each country’s changing demographics; and leadership with attention to the work of principals.
