Teacher education institutions have developed more specialized programs to facilitate learning and professional growth for career changers. The purpose of this case study is to identify the need and preparation teaching STEM in high need urban schools by presenting their own voice. The findings indicated that facilitation and supporting system should include interactive professional network opportunities and experiential learning activities connected to school culture and standard-based education in high need urban schools. These unique features can also be used as a framework to develop authentic assessment systems to track program changes and professional progress.
