Collective Reflection as a Catalyst to Action Research: An Overview of a Group’s Inquiry

Sat, April 5, 8:15 to 9:45am, Convention Center, Floor: 100 Level, 121C

Abstract

This poster presents a summary of the work of 8 educators/researchers who have participated in a multi year project in collective reflection as a pathway to action research regarding on-going work with local schools teams that are implementing a comprehensive school reform. The poster describes the process of building a structure of deep professional reflection that enabled the group of 8 to better understand how we interact within our local contexts. It suggests that action research, as this collaborative group has engaged in it, is a powerful form of professional education that can reduce the theory–practice divide and contribute to powerful teaching informed by scholarship.
