We have several goals for this roundtable presentation. First, we introduce the concept of inaccuracy in reading. Next, we explain and characterize inaccuracy. We then provide a model of how strategic readers recognize and deal with inaccuracy when reading multiple texts. Next, think aloud data from a study of accomplished high school students reading on the Internet are presented. The think-aloud data demonstrate readers’ strategic approaches as they encounter and reconcile inaccuracies in, and across, the texts they read.
