Effective preparation of candidates for teaching English language learners (ELLs) depends upon faculty capacity to provide such preparation. In this research, we explored the impact of bringing together teacher education faculty in focused conversation to discuss English language learner pedagogy, anchored in video artifacts of teaching generated by teacher candidates from the same institution as the faculty. While video analysis of teaching finds robust support in the research literature on teacher professional learning, its use for higher education faculty development has not been explored. Five cycles of inquiry were investigated, as well as pre- and post-measures of video analysis among faculty participants. Findings indicate the great potential for such activities as opportunities for peer-to-peer learning among teacher education faculty.
