Drawing from a critical content analysis, this paper examines the current the ideological effects neoliberal globalization is having on Spanish and Portuguese educational and curriculum policies. In so doing, the paper dissects the nexus between globalization or globalisms and power under a global policy momentum, and analyses how neoliberal globalization strategies eagerly led by non-governmental institutions determines and drives the educational agenda in each nation. By digging into contentious themes such as globalization, democracy, and educational policy and reform this paper engages in a deeply critical exegesis that demonstrates that globalization masks more than it reveals of what is happening in the world; in so doing, the paper unmasks them paraphernalia borrowed from the private sector to fix public education.
