Nationally, the majority of schools receiving federal School Improvement Grants (SIG) chose the “transformation model.” But, what activities are involved and how are schools implementing them? Using surveys and document reviews, this study examined the transformation model in Oregon SIG schools including documentation of grant implementation and sustainability, views of the successes and challenges, and early student achievement trends. The study found (1) participants reported higher levels of implementation for activities schools spent more funds on, (2) participants reported positive impacts, but perceived activities around staffing as challenging, and (3) student achievement data showed positive trends.
