Sat, April 5, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Terrace IV

Abstract

This study explores and analyzes the educational experiences of geographically isolated high school Latina high school students in Snowy Range City, the Wyoming city with the largest Latino/a population. The research unearths the educational life histories of geographically isolated Latina high school students in Snowy Range City and focuses on the ways in which the participants navigate their academic, cultural, linguistic and social needs in the context of a predominantly White state with a growing Latino/a population. The study arrives at educational implications for geographically isolated Wyoming Latina students and offers suggestions as to what educators might do to help support them.
