This study uses an experimental design to estimate the impact of grant aid on community college students' postsecondary outcomes. We also contribute empirical evidence to emerging theories about why and how grants influence students’ outcomes using qualitative data. Finally, this study makes a unique contribution by focusing exclusively on Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) students, a minority group whose needs are typically overlooked in the research and policy arenas as they are misperceived as experiencing unmitigated access and success in higher education.
