Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the experiences of African American doctoral students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs at public universities through the theoretical framework of graduate student socialization. The study seeks to understand the impact of socialization in STEM programs from the perspective of the African American doctoral student.
