Producing Naturopathic Doctors: The Impact of Early Clinical Experience on Student Clinical Competencies

Abstract

Naturopathic medicine has gained significant popularity over the past several years. However, the general public and the medical community hold little or even incorrect information regarding the process that produces naturopathic doctors (ND). In this paper, we introduce the naturopathic medical school curriculum at our college as an example of the ND training process. In particular, we focus on the clinical training component, and demonstrate the positive impact of integrating early clinical experience on student clinical competencies.
