Abstract

Young children are committed to issues of fairness (Paley, 1986). Culture circles can be seen as a pedagogical vehicle for tacking issues of unfairness while bringing together multiple areas of the curriculum—a space for meaningful, interdisciplinary, multicultural teaching and learning. The purpose of this paper is to offer a situated representation of the affordances of culture circles as an approach to teach generatively and multiculturally in the early years.
