In 2011, a large Minnesota suburban district embarked on a technology journey they hoped would change pedagogical practices throughout their district. The district received 1,900 iPads for various levels of technology integration. This qualitative case study attempted to discern how to successfully integrate iPads and create a technology-rich environment. The research questions were: How was this environment created and supported? And, how did integration of iPads change these teachers’ approach to teaching and learning?
Two conclusions were reached: 1) teachers who wish to integrate iPad technology into the classroom should make the commitment to fully integrate the devices daily, and 2) teachers need daily technology support, professional development, and training on the technology in order to create more authentic learning.
