This poster will describe the measure (MINE: My Interest Now for Engagement) which engages youth in dynamic query processes in an online, using an animated environment of 60 interest cells. The interests are classified using the Four-Phase Model of Interest Development (Hidi & Renninger, 2006). Using MINE, 213 students (139 boys and 74 girls, mean age 13) generated interest profiles. All interest phases were identified, including interests triggered by the process itself. Case studies of profiles including triggered interests add to understanding of interest by identifying affective and experiential features that distinguish triggered interests from other phases of interest development.
