This mixed methods study analyzes and documents evidence of the development of skills and knowledge necessary for teacher leadership in two groups of pre-service teachers (Fall 2010 and Fall 2011) as a result of participation in an undergraduate course through the lens of the Teacher Leader Model Standards. Examining this knowledge and skill development offers insights into the types of growth that occurred, specifically in light of the seven domains outlined through the Teacher Leader Model Standards, the structures and coursework that supported this development, and the areas which, as evidenced through this framework, need further emphasis. These insights can inform strategies for teacher educators and policy makers seeking to support the development of teacher leadership at the pre-service level.
