Teacher-candidates’ educational philosophies are influenced by their prior academic experiences. The Teacher Education Program (TEP) provides multiple opportunities for them to reflect on these experiences and to envision the learning environments they will be designing for their digital-savvy students. This places great responsibility on TEP instructors to model effective use of technology in methods courses. The goals of the study are to (a) model active engagement with educational technologies in a physics methods course; (b) explore clickers as a mechanism for active engagement; and (c) examine if and how teacher-candidates’ epistemological views were impacted through active engagement with technology-enhanced pedagogy.
