Voices of Whiteness and Voices of Diversity: Blending the Tone and Focus in a Survey

Abstract

The primary focus of this case study is to trace the development of a survey instrument that describes current demographics and practices currently in place in single-gender male public schools (K-12) in the United States. A secondary focus outlines how the instrument changed from its original design (questions, focus, and intent) to its final outcome: a cross-sectional research design using CRT findings and comments from professionals in the field. The timeline included in the study indicates changes made to the survey instrument as well as the reflection and feedback that instigated the modifications. The case analysis has enabled the researchers to delve deeper into the understanding of existing purpose and strategy of all boys’ public schools.
