Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine academic outcomes and perceptions of Catholic schooling for students who received a scholarship to attend Catholic school. This study replicates and extends previous research to determine whether attending Catholic school was beneficial for a new cohort of scholarship recipients. Additional indicators of high school success, such as ACT sitting rates and test scores, college acceptance rates, and early indicators of college success, were included in the current study. Additionally, the voices of the students, their family members, and scholarship recipient alumni were captured to delve deeper into the perceptions of Catholic schooling for students who otherwise would not have been able to afford tuition.
