This study examines teachers’ conceptions of assessment (COA) and the extent to which they are related to various contextual factors. While previous work has examined teachers’ COA and relationships to their teaching practices, little prior research has explored the possible influences on teachers’ COA that could enable development and testing of interventions to support teachers’ COA. To address this, a representative sample of Singaporean teachers is surveyed on their COA and their perception of the contextual factors that affect them at the micro, meso, and macro level (Kozma, 2003). Instruments include Brown’s (2006) TCoA-III questionnaire and a new questionnaire developed and piloted for the present study. Potential implications for teacher education, school policy, and future research will be discussed.
