This contribution provides an insight in a research project, which proves the question where and how digital literacy is integrated in the educational system, using the example of teacher education in Germany. The research project analyzes the integration of media literacy and media-pedagogical competence in teacher education programs as subject of teacher education. To get a broad overview about teacher education, a comparative analysis was done: first we analyzed K-12 teacher education; second we analyzed adult education programs and curricula. Focus of the research project was an investigation of teacher education program design and innovations according media literacy and the competencies for teacher educators.
