Using valid and reliable instruments in research is essential for creating accurate, interpretations. This study is an attempt to create a tool that has been evaluated using statistical techniques which will provide researchers with an evidence based instrument that reflects developments in the field. The six subscales of the Determining Attitudes Toward Ability (DATA) Scale provide specific measurements of attitudes towards important areas. These subscales will provide researchers with the ability to measure identifiable attitudes of teachers and administrators in relation to other outcome measures. The follow-up study allowed for validation of the instrument as well as provided interesting findings regarding differences between elementary and high school teachers.
