Abstract

Why do teacher educators in the 21st century feel like they are entering the ‘Twilight Zone’? In this in depth study, three teacher educators are interviewed for the purpose of examining their conceptualization of 21st literacies; if their roles as literacy instructors have changed, and; if they incorporate 21st century practices into their professional lives. The closing multimodal images and metaphors provided by these teacher educators provide profound insight into their positioning in the ‘Twilight Zone’.
