Abstract

The role and influence of an Educational Technology Facilitator (ETF) within six schools across the country was investigated. The schools received technology tools and educational resources via the Internet that allowed them to communicate with experts and peers. The expectations of the ETFs were the same across all schools, but their roles within each school varied from full-time school-based, part-time school-based, and a remote ETF. The various roles of the ETFs were investigated as they impacted the implementation of the technology tools and web-based resources and community. Using a mixed method research design the impact on teachers’ and students’ performance was determined. Results indicate that the role of the ETF as an agent of change is dependent on school context.
