The purpose of this presentation is to report on a study that aimed to explore the role of a civic organization in developing youth civic identities in post-revolutionary Egypt.Through analyzing the curriculum and activities used at a civic organization in Cairo and engaging in reflective interviews with the organizations’ founders and organizers, the presenter highlights some of the best civic practices used at the organization.In addition, through analyzing interviews with the youth involved in the organization’s summer school, the presenter discusses some of the civic values that youth constructed through their participation in the school.These include values like freedom of expression, collective action and social responsibility.This presentation is intended for researchers interested in international studies, youth development and civic education.
