The Outcomes of Professional Learning Communities Through the Lens of Leadership Capacity

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to focus on building leadership, or collective, capacity in a school district through the implementation of Professional Learning Communities (PLC). Data revealed increase student acheievment across the grades and both, the teachers and the principal, seeing increase collective responsibility by teachers for student achievement and the enhancement of leadership capability in the schools. The implications for research and practice in K-12 leadership are significant.
