The aim of this study was to gather validation evidence for the Comprehension of Written Grammar (CWG) test of 26 grammatical structures for use with deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) students. Validity and reliability data were collected on 98 participants (49 DHH and 49 Hearing) in Grades 2-6. The objectives for the study included: 1) To examine the 4-week test-retest reliability for each of the participants; and 2) To examine expected differences between the group’s responses on the CWG to provide evidence of known-groups validity. Results indicated the reliability estimates for the CWG test scores are excellent, and that the DHH children performed statistically significantly lower on the CWG test than the hearing children. Implications for practice are discussed.
