Collaborative Research Partnerships for Knowledge Mobilization

Abstract

This study examined how collaborative research partnerships (CRPs) fit into the knowledge mobilization process. Partnerships examined were between university researchers and organizations or individuals in the education sector whose mandate is to conduct and disseminate research for service delivery. Data from the study came from key informant interviews, document analysis, and a survey of various CRPs across Canada. Findings demonstrated that working across university researchers and community organizations builds capacity for research in the education sector; CRPs benefit organizational development of using research to inform decision-making; CRPs are more informal than formal entities; how partners communicate is integral to their success; and partnerships can vary in their involvement and still be successful as long as it meets its goals.
