Teaching Data Use

• In Event: Assessment and Evaluation of Educational Leadership Programs

Abstract

This case study (Browne Ferrigno, 2003; Eisenhardt & Graebner, 2007; Miles, Huberman, & Saldaña, 2013) discuss our program’s efforts to develop candidate’s practicum internship experience during their final semester in our university’s Master’s and certification program into a rich and compelling field experience where leadership candidates use data to lead improvement. We discuss the challenges involved in supporting candidates’ efforts to use data to make change in school, the program features we found that supported candidates’ growth, and change over time. In the conclusion we discuss the implications of our case study for program improvement and assessment.
