One Hundred Thirty Innovations Supporting the Power of Educational Research

Sat, April 5, 8:15 to 9:45am, Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Terrace IV

Abstract

A total of 130 chapters—contributed by over 330 contemporary American and international educational researchers and practitioners—were subjected to interpretive content analysis with the following two-fold objective: (1) to determine trends and patterns of research-based educational innovations—designed and implemented in response to the urgent need for reform—that significantly impact PreK-12, preservice, and inservice teacher education; (2) to generate an original model of educational innovation based on the degree of impact the innovations have achieved. Critical themes were identified which (a) undergirded sustainable innovations, (b) may be reproduced in other educational settings, and (c) promoted the use of research-based practices to inform education. The four-level model identified innovations as informative, formative, reformative or transformative.
