Profiles, Pedigrees, and Proficiencies: Factors and Forces Influencing the Trajectories of African American Women Postsecondary Presidents

Abstract

With less than two percent of postsecondary presidents being African American, it is important to know what strategies need to be employed in order to broaden the pipeline. Using the analytic frame of Black Feminist Thought and Intersectionality, the purpose of this research was to bring further understanding of African American female postsecondary presidents' experiences and provide insight into how they view themselves, how they identify within their respective institutions, and their personal lives.
