Using a nationally-represented sample of young adults, this study investigated the extent to which a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)-oriented learning activity in math classrooms influences students’ STEM major choices in 4-year postsecondary institutions as mediated by math self-efficacy and math achievement scores. Multilevel structural equation modeling revealed that computer-based learning activities contribute to students’ STEM major choices. The results suggest that STEM-based curriculum via computer-based learning should be strengthened at the secondary school level, which enables students to take a learning pathway to STEM major selection.
