This paper outlines how educational research relating to giftedness in one small section of an Australian university has impacted teaching practice and educational policy for gifted students over the last decade. A number of research projects conducted by two dedicated academics, within a large Education Faculty where gifted education has not been prioritised, will be discussed in relation to the impact that they have had on undergraduate and postgraduate Education students and on educational policy in the state of Victoria. While Australia has tended to travel a different path to other Western nations in relation to provision for gifted learners, the small but focused research highlighted in this paper attests to the impact on policy and practice that is possible.
