Fri, April 4, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Convention Center, Floor: 100 Level, 120A

Abstract

The purpose of the paper is to analyses the ideological content and practice of the new conservative and neoliberal reform in Spain, from the point of view of the social imaginary theory (Castoriadis 1975, 1993; Taylor 2006) Among other political and educational issues, we emphasize the imposition and dissemination of a corporate imaginary in and through the curriculum. The corporate social imaginary, which is a complement to a conservative view of social values, aims to achieve the uncritical acceptance of the demands of corporations and the principles of liberal economics. The school becomes one of the most important platforms of accommodation and social acceptance and propagation of this imaginary.
