How Does the Constraining Power of Education Researchers Influence the Emergence of Educational Theory?

Abstract

A clear distinction is made between education researchers and educational researchers. Education researchers make contributions to education knowledge through their information gathering and theory construction and testing within the conceptual frameworks and methods of validation of forms and fields of education knowledge. Educational researchers make contributions to educational knowledge in explanations of the educational influences of individuals and groups in their own learning, in the learning of others and in the learning of the social formations in which they live, work and research.

The calls for papers for the 2012-2014 AERA annual conferences show the dominance of a language of education research. This influence will be analysed in terms of the title of the presentation.
