In recent years, work in practice-based teacher education has focused on identifying and elaborating pedagogies of enactment that can prepare novice teachers to enact ambitious aspects of teaching practice. We focus on, rehearsal, a particular pedagogy that bridges coursework and field experiences and that prepares novices to learn to interact productively with students around content. Our purpose in this paper is to elaborate the nature of rehearsal as a pedagogy that supports work on complex practice and to illuminate the factors that shape its conduct and nature as a pedagogy of enactment.
